East Area Police marked International Women’s Day with a powerful and historic moment as a fully female Emergency Response Team covered the borough for the first time and it was truly amazing.
For those who understand policing, this was no small occasion. Policing has traditionally been a male dominated profession, particularly within frontline response roles. Yet more and more women are stepping forward, breaking barriers and leading from the front. Yesterday was a clear statement of progress, professionalism and pride.
The all women response team demonstrated not only unity but exceptional operational capability, showing that leadership, resilience and strength define modern policing. Officers were impeccably turned out and delivered their duties with the confidence and expertise that communities across the borough rely on every day.
The event also included an inspiring session featuring a range of female officers who shared their experiences and journeys within the service. Their stories reflected determination, dedication and the changing face of policing, encouraging others to pursue careers on the frontline.
Adding to the significance of the occasion, Barking and Dagenham Mayor Councillor Princess Bright attended to celebrate the day and show her support for the officers.
This was more than a symbolic gesture. It was a visible demonstration of how far policing has come and a reminder that women are not only part of the service, they are shaping its future.
A proud and memorable day for East Area Police and a powerful message that when it comes to protecting our communities, ladies lead the way.
Well done ladies!
