Police have stepped in to address growing concerns around a viral social media trend encouraging school pupils to take part in organised fights.
The trend, circulating on TikTok and other platforms, promotes so-called “red vs blue” clashes between students from different schools. The posts have sparked concern among parents, teachers and communities across London.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police have confirmed they are aware of the online activity and are actively monitoring the situation. Police are working closely with schools, increasing patrols where necessary and taking action to remove harmful content.
The force has warned that encouraging or taking part in violence could lead to serious consequences, including criminal charges.
The social media posts often framed as “school wars”, encourage young people to wear colours representing their school and arrange mass confrontations after lessons. Authorities say the behaviour poses serious risks to student safety.
Police are urging parents and carers to speak with young people about the dangers of online trends that promote violence, warning that sharing or engaging with such content can escalate situations quickly.
Schools have also been working with officers to raise awareness among pupils about peer pressure, personal safety and the real-life consequences of online actions.
The intervention comes amid wider concerns about the growing influence of viral social media challenges and their impact on young people’s behaviour, with authorities stressing that safeguarding pupils remains the priority/
