Keith Prince has cast doubt on whether major works at Gallows Corner will be completed on time, saying he is struggling to believe the project will reopen by the end of April 2026.
The Greater London Assembly member for Havering and Redbridge, who represents Reform UK, told Havering Daily that repeated delays have made him sceptical about the latest timeline.
He said: “We were told by the end of spring but I think probably May time they will get it done.”
Mr Prince also questioned the role of Transport for London in delivering the project.
He said: “TfL are making the promise, but we have to remember that it is not TfL that are delivering the project. The issue now is Essex and Suffolk Water and what they are doing. That is what has been holding the whole project up.”
He also highlighted a series of missed targets.
He said: “We have had deadlines, timelines, all broken, all passed. So if they are saying April, let us get our heads probably around May.”
The long running works at Gallows Corner have caused significant disruption for local residents and businesses, with road closures and delays affecting access to the area. Local firms say the ongoing project has had a major impact on trade, while residents continue to face travel difficulties as the works continue.
