Remembering those who gave their yesterday for our today.

Havering came to a standstill today as hundreds of residents came out to pay their respects to our fallen heroes and those still serving across the world.

Moving tributes were paid at memorial grounds from Romford right across to Rainham where hundreds of wreaths were laid to honour our fallen soldiers who gave us the freedom we enjoy today.

In Romford, the traditional parade was watched by hundreds who lined the streets and then gathered at Coronation Gardens for a very moving Remembrance Day Service.

Havering’s dignitaries attended the service in Romford led by the Mayor Councillor Deon Burton. Havering’s Leader of the Councillor Councillor Damian White laid a wreath alongside the Romford MP Andrew Rosindell.

The morning was full of emotion and tears for many who remembered family and friends who gave their life up for us.

Local resident Roger who attends the service each year told the Havering Daily:

It was a very emotive service today and I would like to thank the council and its Leader Councillor White for holding such a moving service to remember our fallen ones. It’s heart warming to see so many of our members of the community come out and pay their respects.

Well done to the Romford MP who always attends and lays a wreath, sad not see any representative from the Labour Party.

Today is all about remembering those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and those who gave their yesterday for our today”.
