Romford Councillors secure changes to Market Place parking.

The maximum parking time allowed in Romford market is set to rise from two hours to four, following requests from local councillors.

When used as a car park, Romford market currently enforces a maximum parking time of just two hours. This restricts local shoppers from using the market a long-term parking, instead encouraging them to use private parking sites such as The Brewery or Mercury mall.

After meetings with local business owners, councillor Nisha Patel and David Taylor requested that Havering Council extend the time limit from two hours to four.

Havering Council have now proposed the changes to the timings, with the proposal being advertised before being implemented.

 Councillors Patel and Taylor said

“We are pleased that Havering Council have listened to our request. A two hour limit will put some people off from parking in the market square, as it limits the number of local shops they can visit. Although this is a small change, we hope that it is a boost to our high street”.
