Sunflower challenge winner in Collier Row.

Residents in Linley Crescent in Collier Row took part in special planting session in June to make their area prettier to look at for locals.

Roshini Hyde who lives on Linley Crescent took to walking her local area throughout the lock down period and realised that it needed a lot of ‘tlc’ and decided with the help of her local community, to plant hundreds of flowers to make the area come to life.

The planting day was a huge success as many of her neighbours, local police officers and even Councillor Dilip Patel, came out to help her plant flowers on the patch of green.

On the day, sunflower seeds were handed out and a competition was put into place to see who could grow the biggest sunflower! Well now we have a winner!

80 year old Audrey who has lived on Linley Crescent over 60 years, has been able to grow some truly magnificent sunflowers.

Roshini told the Havering Daily:

“Audrey really is an amazing, friendly lady who everyone knows in our street. She is multi talented and did some stunning crocheting during the lock down period. She has also won the London in Bloom competition for her front garden.”

Well done Audrey for growing these amazing sunflowers!

Roshini and her neighbours are undertaking another planting session this Sunday to plant winter flowers and spring bulbs, ready for the year ahead.

Well done to everyone involved.

Audrey and her fantastic sunflowers.
