Exclusive: Cracks in house due to collapsed road.

A woman living in Chadwell Heath has had her house ruined by the collapsing of a road outside of her property that has caused multiple cracks across her home.

The woman, who did not wish to be named, lives on Kingston Hill Avenue on the bend of road that sees a continuous stream of double decker buses and skip lorries go past her house.

She told the Havering Daily:

“I have been living here for thirty years, this road has always had a bus route on it but it changed a few years ago from a single decker to a double decker and the increase in lorries, especially skip lorries have caused this road to collapse.

“There is a fifteen foot gap there it is that big and every time one of these large vehicles goes past my house, my house vibrates. My kitchen cupboards shake, the walls vibrate and the cracks are appearing every where. I can’t redecorate my hall due to the many cracks on the wall. Even my extension floor tiles have cracked it is that bad.”

The woman has contacted the council endless times in the hope that they will resurface the road.

She added:

“Last year, during the lock down period, a council worker came and told me that the road was going to be resurfaced shortly. A year on and I’m still waiting for that to happen. Recently a man came with a bucket of tarmac and just tarmacked the hole, that does nothing.

“I now have to pay for a structural engineer to come and look at my property to prove that it is not subsidence, that clearly it is not.”

The Chadwell Heath lady is looking for structural engineers to help her.

We are awaiting a comment from Barking and Dagenham Council.
