Reflect and relax with colour at The Mercury Mall this bank holiday weekend.

Relax, reflect and learn a new skill before school and college starts again. From 25th – 31st August The Mercury will be holding dedicated creative wellness activities for young people before the stress of the new year starts again.

From 26th – 31st of August on level 2 local mindful artist group ‘Bluerskies Creatives’ will be inviting families to help create a community bunting make from upcycled materials. The free workshops will teach fabric and printing skills whilst gathering optimistic thoughts and stories about how our community has pulled together over the last two years. All participants will also be able to take away a make of their own.

At Daniel’s View Gllery on Level 3 on 25th – 26th August, Local art group The NO Collective and illustrative artists Brennan & Burch will be hosting a mural activity for 18 – 24 year olds to tell their story of the pandemic whilst creating a beautiful mural from a collective imagination. Supported by the ‘London You Good?’ campaign, the artists hope to have authentic conversations with other young people about how their mental health has been challenged through the pandemic.

“Drawing and craft are great ways to de-stress and stay happy” says Spencer Hawken, Centre Manager of The Mercury. “Knowing how hard the last couple of years have been to stay on target with their grades and school work, hopefully through these workshops we can give young people some respite and inspiration for being well in their studies next year”.

All of the workshops are free and on from 11am – 3pm. The bunting workshops can be signed up to on The Mercury’s Facebook page.

All activities are free to participate, for further information visit http://www.themercurymall.co.uk.
