Pick a street a huge success across the borough! #PickAStreet.

Litter pickers were out in full force by the hundreds across the weekend joining in our #pickAStreet campaign to clean the streets of Havering. From Friday right through til Bank Holiday Monday, teams of local residents armed with their litter pickers could be seen across Havering. Many families took part with their children and we even had superwomen and the Mad Hatter on board to collect litter!

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make our litter picking campaign such a huge success. Keeping our streets clean and tidy is something very important to all of us and this campaign has highlighted just how much we want to see our streets litter free.

Residents were asked to litter pick a street or green area within the borough and upload it to social media using the hashtag #PickAStreet.

We would like to say thank you to Michelle from the Harold Hill Wombles for all the help she has given us in launching this campaign. We would also like to thank the Havering Street Care team, who donated equipment and provided support throughout the event. They all played a massive part in making the Pick A Street campaign come to fruition.

Across the four days, we have estimated at least 251 bags of litter were picked, across 140 locations, by 115 residents. An amazing achievement for the first event. Well done to everyone for this amazing achievement!

Our next litter picking event will be held on Bank Holiday Monday May 3rd, so please let us know if you will be joining in and taking part.

If you wish to take part in our campaign, you can show your support by posting your pictures of your litter picking using the hashtag #PickAStreet
