15,000th person gets their vaccine at BHRUT hub.

Yesterday, BHRUT reached another fantastic milestone in their vaccination efforts, giving the 15,000th person their first jab at one of the hubs.

Raymond Saville, who works in the housing department at London Borough of Redbridge, grabbed his jab at the King George Hospital Vaccination Hub.

He received a complimentary box of chocolates, as did our midwife Lauren Davies, who gave him his vaccine.

Raymond, 64, said: “It was a pleasant surprise to find out I was number 15,000 and to get a box of chocolates!

“Getting the vaccine means it will be a lot safer going about my work as I have to mix with a lot of people.

“It was a very smooth process, from booking my appointment to getting the vaccine. My vaccinator, Lauren, was also very good.

“Everyone should get the vaccine when they’re able to, to keep each other safe. The more people that get vaccinated, the less chance there is of the virus being spread.”

Lauren has worked as a midwife at our Trust for nearly three years. Prior to that, she was an intensive care nurse at a hospital in Cardiff.

She has been helping out at both of our hubs at Queen’s and King George hospitals. She has been vaccinating people at the sites on her days off and also when taking annual leave.

Lauren said: “Getting to 15,000 is a real sense of achievement that we’re on the right road to tackling Covid-19. It’s a number to be proud of. We’re helping our staff and other key workers stay safe.

“It’s also really nice to have the interaction with so many people who are getting their jabs.

“I’m very pleased with how smoothly the hubs are running, it’s a real credit to everyone involved in the process.”
