Havering’s Labour leader accuses Romford MP of being reckless and irresponsible.

Keith Darvill, Havering’s Labour Leader has accused the Romford MP of being ‘reckless and irresponsible’. Today he writes in the Havering Daily.

MP Andrew Rosindell is now advocating publicly, on Channel 4 news and BBC London news, that the Prime Minister and government scientists’ guidelines and regulations for controlling the pandemic should be rejected.

No wonder Havering has the highest number of Covid cases in the whole of London.

He says he wants to protect the economy. This seems to me to be trading lives for business. No one wants want to see our high streets becoming a wasteland. No one wants to see jobs lost as businesses close.

Rosindell says he wants to protect the vulnerable. But what does he have in mind?

Many of the vulnerable have alreadyspent 9 months housebound and not seeing friends and family. His policy amounts to allowing a deadly virus to rage throughout Havering. The elderly and younger people with fragile health conditions will be locked up with no prospect of leading a normal life. In essence they will be imprisoned.

Rosindell has a privileged lifestyle thatshields him from the devastation that Covid has caused so many families. Unbelievably for an MP, he is inciting people to ignore the regulations thathave been put in place to protect us all.

As has now been widely viewed on Facebook, Rosindell was seen travelling on the tube blatantly breaking the law about wearing face masks. Even worse, he was very close to another man, having a lengthy conversation. His flagrant disregard of Boris Johnson, Havering’s council leader Damian Whiteand the law is staggering.

The sick, elderly and housebound seem to have no place in Rosindell’s scheme of things and do not count.

Does he not understand that the economy will only get back to normal when the virus is eradicated? In order to do that, infection control measures as directed by those with far more knowledge than he or I have are the only way to us all getting our lives back.

As Havering’s Labour Leader. I must say that reckless and irresponsible are the only words to describe this undermining of the national effort to rid us of this deadly virus.
