Romford MP hits back at local pub who banned him.

Andrew Rosindell the MP for Romford has hit back at the Upminster TapRoom following his ban from the local bar.

The Upminster TapRoom has banned all local MP’s following their vote against free school meals last week.

In response Mr Rosindell said:“In Romford, we are blessed in having some amazing pubs of character that are friendly and welcoming such as the Orange Tree or Royal Oak in Havering-atte-Bower, the Golden Lion, the Bull or the Lamb in Romford Market, the Ship or the Gidea Park Micro Pub in Main Road, the Harrow in Hornchurch, the New Inn in Squirrels Heath, the Ardleigh and Dragon in Ardleigh Green, the Mawney Arms in Lower Mawneys, the Wheatsheaf off of Brentwood Road or the Colley Row Inn or Aspen Tree in Collier Row.

“All of which I visit regularly and have only ever been warmly welcomed by the publicans, staff and customers. I urge everyone in Havering to support these great local pubs in Romford where I can assure local people that they won’t be barred from entry or attacked for their political views. Customers from Upminster are particularly welcome at this time and I encourage them to come to Romford and buy their beer here!”

Price of a pint probably more than would have been offered by the government for a child’s lunch, listing the pubs mearly side stepping the criticism.

Let’s play ‘Conspiracy Theories’. Mr Rosindale voted against school meals last week to try and take the heat off someone else. Then, immediately afterwards, he tells that same person, purportedly in charge of the Havering Council, to offer free school meals to all the children in Havering during half term. Conspiracy theory over…. In these troubling times, it is great news to know the Council has actually done something positive. Something that, (one hopes is not politically motivated… there goes the conspiracy theory again), will benefit so many families especially where someone has lost their job during this crisis. These people are still expected to pay their bills whilst our MP’s and local Councillors live it up on their salaries, expenses and committee fees, aka ‘The Queen’s Shilling’. All that aside, in this instance, a well done to the council. However, it was the wrong vote in the first place, so Mr Rosindale, you’re still banned!
