Advice from a barber as barbers and hairdressers prepare to reopen.

As we look forward to hairdressers and barbers opening this Saturday 4th of July, with three months of roots and men looking like cavemen, the government guidelines for hairdressers and barbers have been released.

Hairdressers and barbershops will be permitted to re-open for services that relate to cutting or treating hair on the head only from the 4th of July 2020. The other services outlined below will remain closed until further notice subject to the five tests, but this guidance will help them prepare for reopening.

Clients do not have to wear a mask
Hairdressers and Barbers must wear viziers at all times.

Encouraging clients to use hand sanitiser or handwashing facilities as they enter the premises or before treatment.

When booking an appointment, ask the client if they can attend on their own, where possible.

Informing clients and contractors of guidance about visiting the premises prior to and at the point of arrival, including information on websites, on booking forms and in entrance ways.

Using outside spaces for queuing when available and safe, for example, some car parks. Queues outside should be managed to ensure they do not cause risk to individuals or other businesses, for example by introducing queuing systems, using barriers and having staff direct clients.
