BREAKING: Petition launched to stop the arrival of asylum seekers. ‘Stop the Palms Hotel Proposals.’

  • thehaveringdaily.co.uk

Damian White and the Havering Conservatives have launched a petition today against the housing of 200 asylum seekers in Palms Hotel in Hornchurch.

Palms Hotel has remained unoccupied for many years and and has been identified as a suitable location by an agency working for the Home Office.

Councillor White told the Havering Daily: “We have launched this petition as we feel this location is totally unsuitable for the asylum seekers. You are effectively dumping 200 vulnerable people in an inappropriate location and it is completely wrong to do this.

“The Fire Brigade have also informed us that the building requires extensive fire and safety work before it can be used.”

Many residents across the borough have expressed their concerns to us at the Havering Daily about the arrival and fear that the asylum seekers may not have been tested for COVID 19.

Please see below if you wish to sign the petition.

This is totally unethical to be placing these people in close proximity of home owners and residents in the area this is next to redden court school. So how do we know there are no rapists and pedophiles in this group of asylum seekers have they been vetted I think not also would they be tested for covid ? This is a total disregard to tax payers and hard working people of the area not to mention that crime will go up and attacks on these asylum seekers is on the cards from local youths

The area isn’t able to fund accommodate this amount of people. The borough is over crowded, under funded for the population that currently lives here, schools doctors etc.

Havering is already over stretched! You only have to look at the waiting times to see a doctor, dentist and to use our local hospital! It’s ridiculous! There has been no announcement of this to the people of Havering or the council!

We really don’t have the space or time from these people. All our resources are stretched enough. Why have they got to be provided them with this sort of comfort at the tax payers expense. If it was us going to there country and making demands on them I don’t think they would give a moments thought about housing and food. They should have been sent back much sooner.

Too many reasons why palms is unsuitable it has not been thought through.
Initially it would take weeks/months to get the building up to speed for habitation.
It is an unsuitable situation for asylum seekers dangerous if Children involved.
Havering facilities are stretched to the limit now and thus number of persons would tip us over
What checks have these people undergone-
    Covid etc

    Madness
