Take a Knife Save a Life-a year on.
A year after the launch of Take a Knife Save a Life, the group celebrated their first few patrols that included a special visit from the Romford MP Andrew Rosindell.
The patrol took place a year ago in Harold Hill when Mr Rosindell joined the anti-knife crime group to walk the streets of Harold Hill and engage with youths removing potentially dangerous items off the streets of Havering.
The team were also joined by Peguy Kato, a bereaved mum who has become an ambassador against knife crime and hosts many events across London to promote peace and stop the use of knives amongst youths.
Co-ordinator Robert Dean who has been with the team from the very start, told the Havering Daily: “It’s great that a year on the group is still here going strong in the community. We have taken many potentially dangerous weapons off the streets of Havering and have attended many local events, chatting to teenagers about their problems and any issues they may face.”
Stephen Gowers who founded Taksal has also been involved in getting youths off the streets and into boxing classes to channel their energy into something postive.
Robert Dean added: “The team has gone from strength to strength and even recently has been out helping in the community to deliver essential goods to the elderly and vulnerable that needed shopping and other items such a prescriptions.”
The Romford MP Andrew Rosindell told the Havering Daily: “I was proud to join Take a Knife Save a Life on one of their first patrols in Havering. The team do amazing work across our borough encouraging youths to stay safe and not use knives. Well done to all of you.”
