Brookside theatre continues to entertain the community by broadcasting archived productions.

Romford’s Brookside Theatre is to be opening its digital archives for free for the first time. The theatre will kick off this Wednesday, 22 April at 7.00pm, with one of the first show’s ever performed at the theatre back in 2012, Dan Goggin’s hilarious musical comedy, NUNSENSE. Featuring star turns, tap dancing nuns, an audience quiz, misadventure, and comic surprises aplenty, NUNSENSE is one musical that is truly heaven sent! “A hysterical show that will restore your faith in the power of comedy”.

Every Wednesday, a new show will be made available on the theatre’s Youtube channel with future shows to include last years’ highly acclaimed adaptation of Oscar’s Wildes comedy, THE CANTERVILLE GHOST, February’s London premiere, the hit family show RED – THE RED RIDING HOOD MUSICALand the UK premiere of sixties musical comedy, LIFE COULD BE A DREAM. The theatre has also promised some special online broadcasts over the coming weeks, created by a host of regular performers that are passionate about supporting the theatre during the lockdown. 

The theatre’s Artistic Director, Jai Sepple says “Although our doors remain shut, we are determined to continue to bring entertainment to the community. The love and support that we have received now as well as over the past eight years from the people of Havering has been unparalleled and so greatly appreciated and we just want to give something back during these difficult times. Our doors may not be not open but our hearts most certainly are and we are proud to be able to open our archives to the community, who will hopefully be able to enjoy some of our past shows from the comfort of their own living rooms.”

While viewing is free of charge, the theatre need support now more than ever before, in this challenging and unprecedented time. They receive no grants or funding and rely solely on ticket sales and the generosity of their patrons. With the historic Romford War memorial buildings closed until further notice, they are now reliant on donations and support is critical to ensure the future of the theatre.

Jai continues, “While we recognise that this is a difficult time for many, and any donation, large or small, would be so greatly appreciated.”
