Message from East Area Met Borough Commander.

Dear all,

I wanted to reassure you that our policing plan has remained the same today (Sunday, 22 March) and officers continue to police London as they have over the past few weeks.

We will continue to have a visible policing presence and will be responding as and where we are needed.

UPDATE: Closure of hospitality facilities

Following the announcement on Friday about the closure of hospitality and leisure facilities, we have seen that most venues are following the government’s advice. This is as anticipated and no significant policing issues have arisen.

Met officers are following the advice from the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) and if they see specified businesses open, they will remind them of the Government advice.

I am also pleased to say that we have not seen any significant rise in hate crime, but please do remind those in your communities to continue to report it, and encourage others to, where they see it.

We thank you for your continued support and wish you well. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any further questions.

Wishing you a safe remainder of the weekend and keep safe.

Kind regards

Stephen Clayman
East Area Tri-Borough (BCU) Commander
