Tackling hate crime against people with disabilities.

On Wednesday March 4th, PC Stanbrook visited the Havering Association for people with disabilities (HAD).

She spoke to members there about hate crime. She explained that people who shouted abuse at association members based solely on their disablement could face a criminal conviction.

A short video presentation accompanied the talk which was warmly received by members.

HAD manager Claire Kelly told the Havering Daily: “We are campaigning to get our clients here to talk to us. If something doesn’t feel right come and share it with us.

We are working hard on prevention to stop our clients from being targeted. We want them to know that there is no such thing as a silly question. Come in and talk to us, if something is worrying you, come and share it with us.”
